A Rochester man charged with killing a 17-year-old girl last month pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Friday morning.

DeVonte Lively, 20, is charged with second degree murder in the death of Rochester teen, Larie Butler.

Butler's body was discovered in an abandoned Irondequoit swimming pool back in March.

Lively allegedly killed Butler in the basement of his grandmother's Irondequoit home on Dorrington Road then dumped her body in the neighboring swimming pool.

"The next step would be to provide the defense with all of the materials that relate to the search for her and his arrest, all of that needs to be provided. The court issued a scheduling order and we're on for the 19th of June for argument of motions. So the next phase will be legal phase where the judge decides what evidence can or cannot come in and those sort of things," said Assistant District Attorney Kelly Wolford.

Lively is being held in the Monroe County Jail without bail. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
