The Empire State Games are being postponed this year as a matter of funding.
Abby Wambach says she tried to get more sponsors involved.
"I was trying to get involved and help in any way that I could to make sure that they could get more sponsors and obviously more money to run it," said Abby Wambach, the new forward for the WNY Flash. "It looks like it's going to be on hold for another year."
The state dropped funding for the games in 2011. The Empire Games website says the summer games will return next year in 2014.
