Some school kids took full-advantage of mid-winter break Wednesday and discovered a heroic way to be healthy.

Sporting purple hats and mittens, kids were given free skate-time at Manhattan Square Park.

It's part of the Be a Healthy Hero program that promotes healthy lifestyles for kids. The program pushes healthier eating habits and increased activity to battle childhood obesity.

“Today, we’ve got a free skate at Manhattan Square Park with some of our partners, and we’re just excited to have families and kids out being active on a chilly day, but it’s a beautiful day in Rochester to be active outside," said Heidi Burke, Greater Rochester Health Foundation.

The slogan "5-2-1-0" stands for five veggies a day, two hours or less computer or TV time, at least one hour of physical activity, and zero sugary drinks.
