Programs Offer Help to Veterans Seeking Employment

The job market is tough for many people, however there are programs in the Rochester community that helps veterans returning from service find jobs.

Laura Stradley, director of the Veterans Service Agency , said there are two programs that come to mind to help those returning veterans.

The first is the labor staff at RochesterWorks! They work specifically with veterans on job readiness training as they search for employment. RochesterWorks! also works with other agencies across our area make referrals to other agencies through the employment process.

The other agency that assists veterans find employment is the Veterans Outreach Center . The staff at the center, which has received recognition from the White House, last year placed three out of every four veterans into meaningful employment.

Stradley says veterans are critical to the workforce because they bring leadership qualities and are able to adapt to different environments.
