Authorities say the call came in around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday for the report of a burglary in progress.

Upon arriving at 41 Tacoma Street, they discovered an open door in one of the upstairs apartments. When officers began searching the apartment, they found a body. Police say the body is that of a male Rochester resident.

"There's signs of trauma that would lead us to believe that this is a homicide, so we'll be investigating it as such," said Commander Tim List, Rochester Police Department. "Right now, it's an unattended suspicious death and we'll be investigating it as if it as if it's a homicide. Obviously, the medical examiner would have to make the final determination as to the nature of the injuries and the cause of death."

A number of police officers also responded to a second scene not far from the Tacoma Street location.

K-9 units searched the neighborhood leading police to the area of Glendale Park and Aldern Place. Police say individuals located there may be connected with the crime scene on Tacoma Street.

"At that hour of the morning, people are beginning to get up and about, going to school and going to work and that just may be the case with these individuals, but we're going to look into any possibilities at this point," List said.

Police ask anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity near 41 Tacoma Street to call 911.
