We didn't learn much more about the alleged hazing incident at Honeoye High School during the school board meeting, but we did find out that both the JV boys basketball coach and the varsity boys basketball coach have officially resigned.
Those resignations came very unceremoniously at the school board meeting, without any replacement for those coaches.
The district does confirm some sort of hazing incident on a team bus, returning from a basketball game, but will not go into any further detail than that.
"School is simulated life, and real life. And some of our kids have made some mistakes. We have great kids here. We're working through it, there have been some violations but we're working through it, and we're looking forward to moving on," said David Bills, Honeoye District Superintendent.
YNN did speak to a man who claimed to be the parent of one of the five senior boys suspended from the boys varsity basketball team as a result of this hazing incident. He says to his knowledge, no players were injured as a result of the hazing. It's unclear whether or not he agrees with the punishment and suspensions, but he does say he accepts them.
Meanwhile, the athletic director confirms that the final three games of the season have been canceled. However, he says he does not know the future of the team regarding sectional play.
