Rush-Henrietta Improbable Shot Stuns Greece Athena
Greece Athena and Rush-Henrietta varsity boys basketball teams squared off Saturday in the RAP Tournament at East High School.
With seconds to go in the fourth quarter, tied at 54 a piece, the game seemed destined for overtime. But a circus shot would change that.
Dribbling down the court, Rush-Henrietta point guard Bay Barley stumbled, falling onto his back as the clocked ticked down. Keeping his dribble, Barley side-armed a half-court shot in a last ditch effort to seal a victory for the Royal Comets.
"I know that the clock was running down, so I wanted to be the one with the ball and as I fell I knew to keep my dribble so I could get back up, and I got back up I was ready to shoot the ball. I shot it and I was just praying that it would go in," said Bay Barley.
And to the surprise of everyone in the crowded gym at East High School, it did. Rush-Henrietta won 57-54.
