Man Charged With Soldier's Death
A South Carolina soldier now faces charges in the Christmas day death of a Fairport soldier.

According to KTUU-TV in Anchorage, Alaska, Specialist Marshall Drake was charged Tuesday in the shooting of Private First Class Grant Wise.

Drake, 23, is charged with Involuntary manslaughter, negligent homicide and failing to obey regulations in the death of Wise, 25.

Drake is also accused of wrongfully storing his own gun and ammunition, and failing to disclose and register his gun.

On Christmas Day, Wise was found dead from a gunshot wound in Drake's barracks at the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, just north of Anchorage.

Drake, joined the Army in October 2009 and is assigned to the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division.

The military’s criminal investigation division is continuing to look into this case.
