Even with no snow, many came to celebrate the season at the Mendon Pond Winterfest.

In the past, people participated in sledding, tubing and many other snow activities.

This year they made the best of the dry conditions. Kids got their faces painted. There were even some clowns inside heated lodges away from the winter wind.

While there may not be the usual mushing sleighs, there are plenty of other options for everyone.

"Horse and wagon rides, still going strong," said festival organizer Kenneth Hann. "Kid's winter crafts, Astronomy Club, of course there's always Wild Wings with all of the birds of prey over there in the nature center. There's a lot going on in spite of the lack of snow."

The family event is in its 18th year and many of the activities are free.
