"You can just like rebuild them, and you can have new parts to build something different with them. So that's what makes them so fun,” said Katie Bradfield.
These keys to memory lane are made of plastic, dotted with tiny circular studs, and full of potential.
"It's a ship with cargo, and a crane,” said Ben Ketchum.
Or maybe it's a house, or a giant fort. Like we all remember: nothing is impossible for LEGO.
"Anything that's interactive with small motor skills, and using your creativity, and building is a wonderful learning tool for kids,” Susan Trien, spokesperson for The Strong.
Trien says when LEGO first came to the museum two years ago, it was one of the most popular exhibits ever at The Strong. Now, bringing it back with the new LEGO Travel Adventure this weekend is expected to draw large crowds from now until the exhibit closes in May.
"It's LEGOs. It doesn't have to make sense for it to come true. You know that, right?"
For Ben Ketchum and his friend, Ben Fargnoli, LEGO is the gold standard in creativity.
"They're probably the coolest because...they're LEGOs and we love LEGOs."
And yes, LEGOs are certainly for girls, too.
“This is the first time I've played with girl LEGOS, because there's mostly boy LEGOS at my house,” Katie said.
Of course, you don't have to go to the museum to build with LEGOS. But Trien says the new exhibit is not about building so much as exploration and inspiration.
"The dioramas here and the colorful backdrops, they just add to your creative juices, and give you more ideas and get you excited about building and creating,” Trien said.
No extra charge, for nostalgia.
You can come and enjoy an entire day at the LEGO Travel Exhibit at The Strong, beginning Saturday and running through May 12th.
