Monroe County Sheriff's deputies say 49-year-old Edward Smith is arrested on an indictment warrant, facing charges of second-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter, second-degree vehiclular manslaughter and driving while ability impaired by drugs.

Smith was driving a car with two passengers on South Avenue back in March of 2012 when it went off the road back and hit a tree.

His mother, 88-year-old Elizabeth Washington, died from her injuries later at the hospital

A 51-year-old woman in the back seat was not seriously injured.
