A premiere party was held at Midtown Athletic Club Friday for a new Cinemax series that has roots in Brighton.

From the creator of "True Blood," the plot of Banshee features an ex-con and master thief who assumes the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Pennsylvania where he continues his criminal activities.

Rochester native and Brighton resident David Schickler is the Co-creator and executive producer of the series.

He said it's been his dream to create an action adventure series with character and a deep level of writing. We caught up with Schickler at the premiere party, surrounded by his friends and family.

"I'm grateful every single person here has been supportive of me ever since I was young and writing my weird strange short stories when I was a little McQuaid student and in college. I've always been a story teller and this really is the fruition of a dream coming true."

Banshee premiered Friday night at 10 p.m. on Cinemax. About 150 people attended the premiere party.
