Morelle Named State Assembly Majority Leader

Morelle Named State Assembly Majority Leader
New York State Assemblyman Joe Morelle from Irondequoit will serve as Assembly Majority Leader.

Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver chose Morelle to fill the post today. He replaces Ron Canestrari from the Albany Area. Canestrari chose not to seek re-election in 2012.

As Majority Leader, Morelle will make an additional $34,500. His base salary is $79, 500.

The Irondequoit Democrat has been in the Assembly since 1990.
