More than 400 community members are talking about ways to improve racial equity in Rochester.

The new initiative called Facing Race, Embracing Equity, or FREE, is focused on fostering long-term dialogue to help create positive opportunities in Rochester.

FREE held two kick-off events to get people talking about ideas. They discussed goals, engaged in conversations about race in their lives, talked about health, housing and education disparities between races and how to reduce stereotypes.

The focus is to embrace differences and maximize talents.

The Rochester Museum and Science Center is hosting an exhibit in conjunction with the Facing Race, Embracing Equity initiative.

The museum will feature "RACE; Are We So Different?" January 19 through April 28. The goal is to get people talking about race through scientific and historical points of view.
