The projector is going dark, temporarily, at a big attraction at the George Eastman House. The Dryden Theatre is closing its doors for two months after Tuesday night.

The museum is giving a major upgrade to the theatre, including new seating, a new screen, and digital projection.

Appropriately enough, the final movie to be screened Tuesday is Cinema Paradiso, a film about a movie theatre.

"We've already done a lot of the technology upgrades. This one is going to be more for comfort and just a more rich movie experience. And the look with the lighting will be more reminiscent of the grand movie houses of the old days," said Dresden Engle, George Eastman House.

The current seats in the theatre have been there since 1951.

Fans of the theatre bought out all the seats and can take them home Wednesday.

The newly refurbished Dryden Theatre will re-open March 2nd with a screening of the film Sideways.
