Monroe County Democrats hope to change the date when the county's annual budget proposal is revealed.

Currently, Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks submits her proposals in mid-November.

Democrats introduced legislation Monday to move that back to mid-October to restore what they call transparency and accountability to the process.

"One: we should have more time as legislators to review that document, which we would have if it were released before Election Day. Two: we think the public ought to be aware of what's in it before they go to vote," said Carrie Andrews, (D), Legislature Minority Leader.

The county has not commented on the measure at this point in time.
