With just days left until Christmas, a few local post offices have opened their doors for an extra day.

About 15 people were lined up before the post office officially opened on Sunday to make sure their last minute packages and cards arrive on time.

Monday marks one week before Christmas Eve and is projected to be the busiest mailing day of the year, but a spokesperson for the post office says you don't need to leave your
home to make sure your packages are mailed.

"A lot of people are figuring out that USPS.com is a great way to avoid the post office," said Karen Mazurkiewicz. "You can actually print postage on your personal computer, print out a hard copy sheet. The bottom part is your receipt the top you put it right on your package, and then your carrier, you can alert them online that you have a package for them and they will pick it up for free."

The post office recommends mailing cards by the 20th and make sure priority packages are sent by the 21st.
