Parents Wonder How to Explain Connecticut Tragedy
With a tragedy like the mass shooting in Connecticut, many parents aren't sure how to show support for their kids.

YNN talked to the clinical director at the University of Rochester’s Mt. Hope Family Center, who focuses on treatment of childhood trauma. She says it's important for parents to offer their children reassurance.

"I think it's not uncommon for kids to have some fear, to be worried about what might happen or whether something like this might happen again," said Jody Manly, Clinical Psychologist, "but I also think it's important for kids to still be in their normal routine as much as possible, for them to get back to school on Monday, with some reassurance that things are going to be okay."

She says parents need to listen to the children, to find out what their worries and concerns are, so they can help them express their feelings.
