Bail Posted For Woman Convicted of Punching Walmart Employee
Bail has been posted for the woman convicted of punching a Batavia Walmart employee last Christmas Eve.
The Genesee County District Attorney confirmed that a $50,000 bond had been posted for the release of Jacquetta Simmons.
Simmons was convicted in August of punching a 70-year-old Walmart cashier and sentenced to five years in prison.
Last week, a federal judge signed a "stay of sentence order" allowing Simmons to be free on bail while her conviction and sentence are appealed. That process could take up to a year.
State prison officials say bail has been posted, but Simmons has not yet been released.
