Neighbors we spoke with off-camera had their suspicions proven true. The robbery suspect, Michael Vanaalst, was arrested by deputies at his own home early Friday afternoon.

Neighbors say Vanaalst is part of a family of four living at the house on East Street in the village. Our camera was rolling as he was whisked away in a patrol car at about 1 p.m. Friday.

This is all related to that bank robbery at M&T Bank in Honeoye Falls. Investigators say Michael Vanaalst walked in the back door of the bank, demanded money from the teller, and left through the front door. He did not display any weapons.

Vanaalst was on the run for about two-and-a-half hours Friday. The nearby Honeoye Falls-Lima School was locked-up for a brief time as a precaution.

Vanaalst will be arraigned in court Friday night.

One resident we spoke with says the parents at this house on East Street are very nice people. He was surprised that it might've been their son involved in this crime.
