A Wayne County man faces robbery charges after deputies say he stole his grandmother's purse and then forced her out of his car.

Sheriff's deputies say 33-year old Danny Hollier of Clyde faces robbery charges.

Police say the two struggled over the woman's purse before Hollier gained control and fled the scene.

Mary Baker, 74, walked to a nearby convenience store and called police.

"The fact that it was 1:30 in the morning, left her out on... she had to walk on 414, which is a state highway. I know we've had, not in Wayne County, but some of the other counties, have had pedestrians struck in the night and very well this could have turned out different. Fortunately, she was not injured in any way and she was able to get to the convenience store where she could call deputies," said Chief Deputy Bob Hetzke with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.

Hollier was arraigned in the Town of Galen Court and was then transferred to the Wayne County Jail.
