Saturday is World AIDS Day. In recognition of the day, more than a thousand new AIDS posters from one of the world's largest AIDS poster collections have been digitized and put online by archivists at the University of Rochester.

Last year, to mark the 30th anniversary of the AIDS outbreak, more than 6,000 images from the Atwater AIDS Education Poster Collection were posted online.

The images are from more than 100 countries and feature 60 different languages.

The posters collected by retired URMC physician Dr. Edward Atwater provide a visual history of the first three decades of the HIV/AIDS crisis.
