AG's Office Reaches Settlement With Excellus BCBS Over Wrongly Denied Claims
Some Excellus BlueCross BlueShield customers will be getting refunds. The State Attorney General Office hast reached a settlement with the insurer for wrongly denied claims.

According to Eric Schneiderman's office, Blue Cross Blue Shield improperly denied 12,000 claims saying customer's deductibles had not been met, even though they had. As a result, customers were wrongly billed.

Schneiderman says the company has paid more than three million dollars to consumers and providers.

Excellus said it self-reported the problem to the state, and since discovering the computer system error, it has worked to make customers financially whole.

Members will be notified in January with claims details.
