Artists are invited to submit proposals for a public art project in Rochester's South Wedge Neighborhood. It's part of the Erie Harbor Public Enhancement Project located along Mt. Hope Avenue and the Genesee River.

The City of Rochester is using this art project to celebrate the area, promote city living and compliment the new Erie Harbor housing project on the Genesee River.

The City of Rochester is seeking proposals from artists for permanent commissioned public artwork. The project involves design and construction of public access corridors that link the adjacent South Wedge neighborhood to the parkland and trail system along the Genesee River.

The goal of the overall public improvement project includes enhancing public pedestrian and visual access to the waterfront and enhancing the recreational value and scenic quality of the waterfront.

The city wants the proposed artwork to compliment the setting, including the river, the cultural and industrial history and uses of the area, and the identity of the neighborhood.

The cost of the artwork(s) will be financed from NYS Department of State and Waterfront Revitalization Program and from city sources. Total funding for the artwork is $150,000.

There is an informational meeting Thursday night at 5:00 p.m. It's located in the Great Room, on the second floor of the Erie Harbor Clubhouse at 275 Mt. Hope Avenue.

The deadline to submit applications and a hard copy and digital copy of your work is Thursday, November 29th.
