It was a party atmosphere at the Hyatt in downtown Rochester on Tuesday night, as several local Democrats won, along with President Obama.
In the 55th State Senate District, Ted O'Brien defeated Republican and State Assemblyman Sean Hanna.
"We worked so hard taking our door-to-door message from Irondequoit to Naples throughout this district. Our message; that we need better jobs, more jobs, higher paying jobs, and people listened to us at the doors, when we looked at them in the eye and told them what our message was. Thank you all for delivering that message," said O'Brien, (D).
"I can't thank everybody that has helped me over the course of this 17 years, but I do feel obligated to thank some of you, just some of you, who have helped me out in the campaign," Hanna said.
A poll in October showed Hanna with a lead of eight percentage points, but then a more recent poll that came out before election day showed that O'Brien had turned it around, and then some.
