ATTICA, N.Y. -- The Wyoming County SPCA is demanding that a former volunteer at the facility stop speaking on its behalf. A letter from the SPCA President Christine Myers, informed Chris Weihe to stop speaking as an agency representative.
Weihe has spoken out against the SPCA numerous times since the group's Attica pound was raided by State Police in February. SPCA officials said Weihe was a part-time volunteer at the agency's Eastern Hills Mall location, but never served on its board or knew of its inner workings. Weihe has been barred from the Attica facility and threatened with legal action if she speaks as an SPCA official or attends any functions.
The Attica facility has been closed since the raid due to what police called unsanitary and overcrowded conditions. The group will hold a membership and volunteer drive on August 25.
