ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Some of the top high school and college lacrosse players from the area are taking part in the Great Upstate Lacrosse League at RIT. The league began four years ago with roughly 80 players, and has since grown to have more than 250 participants, and is considered to be one of the premiere summer lacrosse leagues in the Northeast. League organizers said it gives players the chance to maintain their skills during the summer.
"The league was 100 percent designed to help college players and high school seniors going to college maintain and improve their skills during the summer. The only way to do that is to put them in a position where you're playing in a competitive, but also fun environment," said Grant Catalino, League Founder.
Catalino said that interest in the league has grown so much, that new this year, that started a four-team women's league.
