Man Arrested at Library, Charged with Sex Abuse Has Criminal History
Monroe County's District Attorney anticipates the man arrested for allegedly touching two young girls' feet will be charged in other towns as well.
Anthony Perri, 49, is charged with two counts of sexual abuse and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Court papers say shortly after noon Tuesday, Perri fondled the feet of two children in the Penfield library for the purpose of sexual gratification.
Perri pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Tuesday evening.
A library staff member noticed Perri's behavior with the child.
"Normally you'd go into a library or a book store and you'd feel free to let your children look and explore in a library, and that was not the case here. So we need to be extra vigilant and be thankful to those who came forward at the Penfield Library," said Sandra Doorley, (D), District Attorney.
Perri is being held in the Monroe County Jail without bail.
YNN has learned Perri was convicted of shooting an employee of a Manhattan ice cream shop in back in 1986. He was released from prison in 1996.

Anthony Perri arrived at Penfield Town Court with a lot to say.
"I was set up. I'm asking all women and children and Rochester to come forward. This is a federal issue. Please come forward," he said.
According to court documents, Perri approached two children at the Penfield Town Library. He allegedly then took their shoes off and fondled their feet. The felony complaint also says he pressed their feet against his nose and mouth for the purpose of sexual gratification.
"It's just weird... just weird," said Debbie Degraff, Penfield.
Library Director Bernadette Brinkman says a staff member noticed Perri's alleged behavior with the child. She says when he found out he was detected, he fled, but was later arrested.
"One of our staff members observed in our gentleman approaching a young girl. He was engaging in some questionable activities so she brought it to my attention and we contacted the Sheriff," Brinkman said.
There have been similar cases where a suspicious man was identified touching young girls inappropriately at libraries and a bookstore in Brighton and Pittsford.
Brinkman says since then, staff has been on heightened alert.
"Just as all the libraries in the Monroe County Library System, we were prepared to respond if we saw any similar incidents."
Authorities have not yet released if Perri is connected to other incidents.
In court, he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
It was also revealed, Perri was previously convicted of attempted murder in 1988 and assault in 1982. Because of that, the judge denied bail.
That's good news for some Penfield residents.
"It's a big relief that he's caught, that he was arrested," said Janet McCarten.
A 90-day order of protection was issued for the victims.
Perri, however had even more to say as he left court than when he went in.
"Listen, I'm being set up by the president Barack Obama and the City and Federal government..." he said.
He'll be back in front of the judge for a preliminary hearing on Monday.
