Police said Friday that the Bug Jar, where earlier this week, an altercation began that ended with a deadly shooting, will reopen soon.

City officials met with representatives of the nightclub on Friday. Police didn't give an exact date as to when the club may reopen, but authorities indicated it would be about a week.

Twenty-one-year-old Deavoughn Hernandez was shot and killed outside the Bug Jar following an altercation inside the club early Monday morning. Police said an argument broke out at a rap competition being held at the Bug Jar.

Police said today that club representatives have been very cooperative through the entire process.

"As with all establishments in the city, obviously the City of Rochester would like to go ahead and have as many businesses in the city as possible and to maintain the viability of the city economically, so as soon as things come into play, the business will reopen," said Sgt. Joe Wukitsch, Rochester Police Department.

No arrests have been made in connection with Hernandez’s death.
