A father, mother and son all face charges in LeRoy after police say they got violent with officers Sunday afternoon.
A LeRoy police officer and a Genesee County sheriff's deputy responded to Maple Avenue for a criminal contempt complaint. Police Chief Christopher Hayward says 25- year-old Michael Mead resisted arrest and then his father, Donald, tried to slam the door on the officer and the deputy.
They say Michael's mother, Elaina, then ran out with a knife, which she put against the female deputy's chest. Hayward says the officer was able to get the knife away from the mother, but she got cut on the hand during the process.
Hayward says it's thanks to the partnership between LeRoy police, the Genesee County Sheriffs' Department and the City of Batavia that the situation ended well.
"We had those officers available somewhere else in the county that when things got out of control they’re able to come. So about redundant services or duplication of services...I think that today demonstrates that if we didn't have that mutual aid that one or more areas would have been hurt," said Hayward.
All three members of the Mead family face numerous charges.
