Not only will visitors be able to see 50 of Paley's sculptures and furniture pieces, but they will also get a chance to meet him at the Nan Miller Gallery in Brighton Thursday night.
The gallery in Winton Place will open "Mastery of Metal" Thursday to showcase sculptures, tables, lamps, and gates created by Albert Paley. His steel and brass work can be found around the world, but he lives in Rochester.
Currently he is working on 13 metal sculptures, from 10 to 25 feet tall, that will be placed along Park Avenue in New York City for six months beginning next June.
Nan Miller, gallery owner for 40 years, says only a handful of artists are selected for the Park Ave Project.
"He shows the flexibility of the product and he twists and turns and bends and he shows elasticity. Some of his images have a ribbon quality to them; others twist and turn or are cut. So he is using the element of steel to its maximum ability and shows the versatility of what it is," said Miller.
The gallery will be open to the public from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. It is located at 3450 Winton Place. The Mastery of Metal show will run through June 23.
