The Rochester Teachers Association president and Superintendent Bolgen Vargas are meeting with the U.S. Education Secretary in Cincinnati Wednesday to discuss education reform.
The conference, called "Collaborating to Transform the Teaching Profession," aims to give districts from around the country a chance to discuss accomplishments and challenges they are facing with education reform.
RTA President Adam Urbanski says they will get a chance to talk about Rochester's successful Career in Teaching program and teacher evaluation system at the conference, but he is also looking forward to hearing what programs other districts are using that could be implemented in Rochester.
"It feels good to get recognition, but what feels even better is to see great progress that students make. So we're hoping to learn from other districts what they are doing that would contribute towards improvements in learning here in Rochester," said Adam Urbanski, RTA President.
Representatives from more than 100 districts will be at the conference.
