It was a proud day at the University of Rochester as more than a thousand undergraduates crossed the stage for the 162nd commencement ceremony.
More than four thousand guests attended the ceremony to see Ruth Simmons, the President of Brown University, give the commencement address.
Students said they were full of emotion over their accomplishment and happy to move on to a new chapter of life.
"It's a relief that I'm getting my diploma, a relief that a lot of new doors and opportunities are opening for me," says graduating senior Derek Ward-Joyles. "I really appreciate it, I'm really grateful and I'm really adamant."
Throughout the weekend, a total of 3,092 Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees were awarded by the University.
