BUFFALO, N.Y. — Police released footage Monday of a hit-and-run accident that took place around 3 a.m. Thursday.
The vehicle was traveling east on Letchworth Street when it swerved onto the sidewalk and hit a man, sending him into the air.
The city surveillance camera caught the incident on tape, and with the help of people who witnessed the incident, police were able to arrest a nineteen-year-old male suspect. He was charged with assault in the first degree, reckless driving, and fleeing the scene.
The 18-year-old victim was treated and released from ECMC.
Mayor Byron Brown says he hopes the video sends a message.
"If you commit this kind of crime or any kind of other crime in the city of Buffalo, we are watching," said Brown, (D).
Police say they have 164 cameras citywide.
