With construction season underway and more people traveling this time of year, State Police will have extra patrols out looking for speeders and aggressive drivers.
The annual "Operation Spring Brake" kicked off on Monday and will run through Friday.
"We are trying to get people to reduce their speed, especially throughout the work zone where you have workers, you have obstructions," said Paul Swasey of the New York State Police, Troop T. "A lot of people don't realize the lanes are narrower and at a higher speed you are less likely to control your car and more likely to be involved in an accident."
More than 2,000 tickets were issued to speeders during last year's Operation Spring Brake.
