One-Time Fugitive Accepts Plea Deal
A Livingston County man convicted in March of drug and endangering the welfare of a child charges will spend the next nine years in prison.

David Wampler, 40, was also charged with nearly two dozen sex abuse charges and was expected to go to trial on Monday.

Attorneys say a plea deal was reached and the nine-year prison sentence will incorporate all the charges. The deal will also prevent the victim from testifying in court.

Wampler was originally charged with rape and drug sales in January of 2011. Three months later, he was released on $50,000 bail and while he was awaiting trial, police say Wampler left the state. Federal Marshals found Wampler in a Texas hotel room and brought him back to Livingston County.

As part of the deal, Wampler also waived his right to appeal.
