Schumer Stops for Garbage Plate to Discuss "College Town"
New York Senator Chuck Schumer met with University of Rochester President Joel Seligman and Mayor Tom Richards about the proposed "College Town" project.
The trio discussed the project over a garbage plate lunch at Nick Tahou's on West Main Street. Schumer met with the leaders to lay out his campaign to help secure $25 million in loans and tax credits for the project.
The three talked about making the section of Mount Hope Avenue a gateway to the city and the impact the project would have to the area. He says that with the jobs and housing that the new project will create, that it is destined for success.
Charles Schumer, Senator said, “I know there is state money, there is city money there's U of R money and so it is everyone working together to revitalize a neighborhood that's not only in need of revitalization, but people want to live near the U of R.”
Construction for the project is expected to begin in November.
