The YWCA of Rochester and Monroe County are taking part in a national initiative built to stand against racism.
More than a quarter million people took part in the Stand Against Racism movement last year and Rochester had the second highest participation rate in the nation.
Organizers say a lot of progress has been made, but there is more work to do to raise awareness of racial issues.
"It's important for us as a community to step forward and to go outside of our comfort zone so that we can solve the problems that are rooted in race, something that is over 300 years old. It has strong roots in this country, and without strong steps forward it will continue to be difficult for us as a community to overcome racial injustice," said Jean Carroll, YWCA Rochester President and CEO.
This year the YWCA hopes to have the largest turnout in the nation. They will be hosting a community-wide event on April 27th.
