Johnson calls for Fitzpatrick to handle calling plays

By: Andy Young

INDIANAPOLIS -- After a frustrating 20-13 loss to the Colts in which the Bills managed only one offensive touchdown, wide receiver Stevie Johnson said he'd like to see quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to have more control over the offense.

"I think we need to let our quarterback call these plays," said Johnson. "I think he's out there on the field, he sees the adjustments that need to be done."

"I think we should just let him make the adjustments on the go. I think that's when we can move the ball better. He did it a little bit in the game and we moved the ball, so that's how I feel about it."

Fitzpatrick's fourth quarter touchdown pass to Lee Smith was Buffalo's first offensive touchdown in nearly two full games.

The loss drops the Bills to 4-7, and while not mathematically eliminated from the playoff hunt, their chances are incredibly slim.

Head coach Chan Gailey said after the game the team's goal is now to get to 7-7, because that's where the New York Giants were at one point last season before making a run to a Super Bowl title.

Such aspirations are on life support for the Bills, who return home next Sunday to face Jacksonville.
