Evaluating the UB run game
In less than two weeks, the UB Bulls hit the field to open the season against SEC power Georgia. We know Alex Zordich will be under center. He'll be handing off to Branden Oliver, and Khalil Mack will be patrolling the field on defensive downs. Much of the season's success will fall squarely on the shoulders of Oliver, the type of player who makes a major difference in a conference like the MAC.
As a sophomore last season, Oliver broke James Starks' school record for rushing yards in a season. Head coach Jeff Quinn says they would like to get other running backs involved to lighten the workload, but we can still expect a heavy dose of Oliver this fall.
"That's the thing about Bo, you just keep giving the ball to number 32 and something good is going to happen, and a lot of good things happen," said Quinn. "Short yardage we'll hand the ball off to him. But we have have to have other guys to be able to step up and do that, but he's just a tremendous competitor."
