ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — The fundamental intensive camp hosted 57 girls, which was run by St. Bonaventure women's basketball coach Jim Crowley and some members of last year's Atlantic 10 championship team.
The campers received offensive instruction from the A-10's all-time leading three point specialist, Jess Jenkins, and defensive tips from the league's most prolific shut down team.
"We really just have fun with them and show them that you can have fun, but that you really need to work hard to become what you want," said Bonnies forward Chelsea Bowker.
'Just try to show them that hard work really can pay off if you are willing to put the time in," said Bonnies guard Ashley Zahn.
The camp attendees soaked up as much information as they could from their St. Bonaventure instructors, but what they didn't know is that they were reinvigorating the game of basketball and the love and fun of playing hoops into those Bonnies returning from last year's Sweet 16 team.
"I love working with them and I love seeing the excitement and seeing that kids are still interested in sports. I think that is something that isn't as popular today when I was growing up and even before that. It has just been a lot of excitement and I love working with them," said Bonnies alum Jessica Jenkins.
After this camp, Jenkins is looking to take her love for the game overseas as she furthers her basketball career.
The Bonnies start official team workouts in mid-October, and these campers continue receiving their tutelage for the rest of the week.
