ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Fred Jackson said it's a big day for him; sort of the culmination of a career that's seen him go from a Division III college athlete to a top-tier running back in the NFL, and having to fight for every little thing he got along the way.

On Monday, the Bills signed Jackson to a club-friendly two-year, reported $9 million contract extension. He's now under contract through the 2014 season.

The 31-year-old is coming off a career year, which would have ended in the Pro Bowl if not for a leg injury. Jackson rushed for 934 yards and six touchdowns in just 10 games of action.

"I still got to go out and show that it wasn’t just last year and that it wasn’t a one year thing for me. I’ll definitely be motivated in that aspect of it. I’ve got to go out and continue to make plays. I’m looking forward to it. It’ll be another challenge. I love challenges. I’m looking forward to getting out there and continuing to play well," Jackson said.

With Jackson under contract, the Bills have now identified their offensive core, after already signing Ryan Fitzpatrick and Stevie Johnson to contract extensions.
