Hostess asks bankruptcy court for permission to shut down bakeries, outlets
It's the end of an era for fans of Twinkies, Ho Hos and Devil Dogs.

Hostess Brands announced that it's asking a federal bankruptcy court for permission to shut down the business.

The reason for the closure is because of a strike by bakers who have been protesting a new contract.

As a result of the closure, more than 18,000 people will be out of a job as the company is shutting down 33 bakeries and 565 distribution centers across the country.

Those cuts include 26 positions at the Henrietta Hostess location.

Hostess is also the creator of Wonder Bread.
