The ADT Customer Care Center in West Henrietta started out with 40 employees in 1991. Today, there are more than a 1,000. And the company announced Tuesday even more jobs are coming.
ADT is spinning off from its parent company TYCO October 1st to become its own publically- traded company on the New York Stock Exchange. One hundreds new jobs will be added to the call center. Rochester is already the largest of ADT's six customer care centers around the country.
Employees in West Henrietta take calls from customers around the U.S. about their alarm systems. Many are automated alarm calls, but others are true emergencies and employees here year after year are credited with helping save lives.
"We're very proud that we're able to bring these jobs and the financial impact to the community that certainly in the struggling economy means an awful lot to increase employment here," said center director Mike Fallat.
Fallat believes changing technology could mean even more growth for the company in the next few years. "We're looking obviously for pretty accelerated growth."
