A longtime Rochester clothier has relocated and is scaling back a bit determined to focus on quality over quantity.

Vincent DiGiorgio and his father, Peter, first opened Europa Custom Clothiers in Rochester in 1988.

"My father was a custom tailor by trade, for 54 years,” said Vincent DiGiorgio. “This is my 23rd year and so it's a bit of nepotism. I've never wanted to be anything but in this trade."

Over the years DiGiorgio has refined his craft.

"One of the things you'll typically almost never find whether it’s a custom made suit or off the rack suit is stripes that match in the lapel between the collar and the lapel that's something that I've harped on for years," said DiGiorgio.

DiGiorgio has also cultivated a niche business with a loyal clientele. "Some people have been with us for almost all 23 years."

To serve those clients better DiGiorgio scaled Europa back a bit and moved to this new space on Monroe Avenue.

"We want to take time with each individual and make sure their needs are well met."

DiGiorgio said sometimes he will sit down with a client for up to a half hour to find out how to create a suit that best fits their needs.

"We've just taken the business to a different level. Not as many clients, but just increasing the quality of everything we do."

From handmade American shoes to Italian neckwear and top-of-the-line Dormae cloth, DiGiorgio has tailored his business for the classic Rochester businessman, determined to look a cut above.

"When the client comes in here and he walks out the door he knows he's going to get the best he can possibly get."
