All of the evaluations from various doctors and environmental discussions have put LeRoy in the national spotlight.

The chief of the LeRoy Police Department says everyday life has changed for some residents there, but he's confident the community will move on.

Chief Chris Hayward was born and raised in LeRoy. He says all the rumors and speculation are damaging LeRoy's image.

He says he gets numerous calls and emails daily from people all over the world offering up what they think could be causing the tics and other symptoms the dozen or so teenagers are experiencing.

He says he is confident the town, the village and the school district are all dealing with the facts – not speculation.

"This community has done nothing wrong. We haven't shaped the story and more often than not, we have reacted to what has been reported, and have there been missteps? Sure, I think in any community that is not used to dealing with situations like that, hindsight is a wonderful thing. It just comes to the point where people have had enough. They want there to be a return to a sense of normalcy and deal with the facts and not speculation and not dealing with what people believe is going on, but know what's going on," Hayward said.

Hayward says the community will work together to move on. He says there is a heightened sense of awareness around the school campuses because of all the media in town from all over the globe.
