As a mother, living with MS, that task is even tougher for Gleynda Dancy-Edwards.

"It was really humbling to get diagnosed with this because I'm sleepy now a couple of hours a day, muscle spasms, a lot of neurological symptoms, shakiness," she said.

Every year, Gleynda and her son will pound the pavement to collect money and raise awareness during, Upstate New York's MS Walk event. This year, Will chose to request a special guest attend; one he says he can relate to.

"I'm thinking wonderful doctors around here. We have some of the best in the nation, and Will's like, I think we can write Mrs. Obama."

"I found out her dad died from MS at a very young age, so that got me thinking about the MS Walk coming up, so I came home and told my mom and then we both got the idea of writing a letter," said Will.

The letter made it all the way up the ranks of the White House.

"I thought maybe if she'd come... that maybe a lot more people would come," said Will. "This is very important. I want to become a doctor when I am older to help find a cure for MS so I really want to raise a lot of money."

The MS Walk will be held this Sunday at Greece Olympia High School. Hundreds are expected to turn out, and although Michelle Obama will not be able to make it, she did respond to Will's letter.

"Good evening, this is just for Will's parents, this is Andy from the office of the First Lady, we received a letter from Will..." the voicemail said.

The First Lady's aide eventually talked with Will and Glenyda and said Mrs. Obama will send something, even though she can't make it.

"Nobody knows what it is, but hey."

For Will, the response was enough to give him and his mom more momentum as they get ready to walk and help move toward a cure.

"MS someday will hopefully be mystery solved instead of Multiple Sclerosis," said Gleynda.
