Mitchell Pleads Guilty to Escape

The final defendant in the escape from the Monroe County Jail last year pleaded guilty today.
The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office said Joseph Mitchell pleaded guilty to Escape in the First Degree in County Court this morning. The District Attorney’s office said Mitchell admitted to escaping from the jail last March 31st.
Mitchell faces two and one-third to seven years in prison when he is sentenced June 14th.
Eddie Palmer also pleaded guilty to the escape and was sentenced to three and one-half to seven years in prison.
Three other defendants including Rochester Defense Attorney Rudy Lepore also pleaded guilty for aiding in the escape of Palmer and Mitchell. Lepore is serving a five year probation term and was ordered to perform 200 hours of community service.
