Cayuga County Man Pleads Guilty to Murdering Ex-Girlfriend
Less than a month before his trial was set to begin, a Cayuga County man pleaded guilty to murdering his ex-girlfriend.
David McNamara admitted that he strangled Katie Socci back in 2011. The 29-year old mother was found buried along a nature trail near her Auburn home.
McNamara has been behind bars for two years and will receive 20 more years in prison when he's sentenced on April 23rd.
The maximum sentence he could have received was 25 to life, but according to the Cayuga County District Attorney: "It meant more to the victim’s family that McNamara admit his guilt and not put the family through a lengthy public trial, than him getting the additional three years."
