A female-led initiative of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Women Making Wishes hosted the first women's event to help support the local Make-A-Wish initiative.
The Sip 'N Shop Wish Soiree kicked off the night uniting women from the community and creating recognition for the foundation.
Retailers and local vendors were there for the event. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and drinks were served.
This event allows women in the community to get together and create awareness.
Women make up 70-percent of the Metro New York Make-A-Wish donors; however, most of the organization's boards are comprised of males.
Women Making Wishes seeks to bring more female professionals to leadership roles within Make-A-Wish.
"I'm a mom and I have a daughter at home, and I think it's important to help children who have needs and have wishes that want to be fulfilled," said Natalie Grigg, Chairwoman for Women Making Wishes. "And by increasing participation and awareness in the community with Make-A-Wish, we can help gather those community resources to help fulfill wishes of children who otherwise would not have their wishes fulfilled."
All donations from the event went to Make-A-Wish Foundation.
